Here's the rough sketch for The Wheel.  I think this is the card that has the more iconography in the entire deck, it's insane all it's missing is a cherry on top!

The World Inked - Curio & Co. Tarot Cards - First Release at SDCC 2015

Here's the inked version of The World for the tarot card set.

Desing the one of those things that you never know what you need to change until you get almost to the end.  I have a the feeling that this card will have to undergo some changes before it goes to press.
Equalising all of the design of a set is always a hefty task, specially because every project I do I tend to do it in a different style.  And of course that leads to an other production pipeline.  Enough rambling here's The World.

Icon Design for Safety Pic - iPhone App

Here's some thing a little different from the more recent posts.  In the studio we are always working on multiple projects at the same time, its the nature of things.  Hence this project…

I was asked to design the icon for a new upcoming iPhone app "Safety Pic"  This is the proposed design that was submitted.

The Stars Inked - the Curio & Co. Tarot Cards - at SDCC 2015

Here is the next one of the tarot cards; I just finished inking The Stars. This time around I used a slightly different font, with a more decorative serif. Before I'll do the color pass, I'll be retouching each one and making sure they all have the same key elements: fonts, line weights, stylistic lines, and what ever else.

Here is The Tower in it's full glory and with additional iconography.  Yup the fortune you'll ge to tell with the Curio & Co. cards will be just a unique.  Like every project we undertake we do things just a little different.  Take not of the candle in the tower the water and the fish, all extra iconography for your fortune telling pleasure.

The initial inking and layout are always test subjects I tend to go back and redo/fix things once all of the illustrations are done.  That allows me to see what the sets requires for layout, stylistic lines and fonts.  In animation the call it working on passes, I'm really happy I spent time in the animation industry it taught me a lot.

The Moon - Tarot Cards Sneak Peak at Comic-Con 2015

Tarocard: The Moon - ink version 1.  I'm working on the balance of the line weight to get them to read right at print size but also at decorative art prints size (4x the card size).

I tend to do multiple versions when I work on a project, considering that there are 78 cars… I really need to keep in mind to slim down my production process.
